Which side is the positive post on?
That one answer picks your battery — then choose how much starting power you want.

Left or right terminal — how to tell
Mower batteries are almost all the same U1 case size, and a U1L and U1R are identical inside. What changes is which corner the positive (+) post sits in — and the cables only reach one way. Put the wrong one in and the cables won’t reach; stretching them chafes the insulation and can short. Look down at the top of your old battery and note which side the red post is on.
The same U1 also starts plenty of things that aren’t mowers — UTVs and side-by-sides, small tractors, snow blowers, generators and some compact cars. If your equipment takes a U1, these fit.
U1L · “LEFT”
Positive on the left
The positive (+) post sits in the left corner as you look down at the top of the battery. Ours are marked GNU1L.
U1R · “RIGHT”
Positive on the right
Same case, same size — the positive (+) post is in the right corner instead. Ours are marked GNU1R.
NOT SURE?
Bring it in
Terminal side varies by model, even within one brand — John Deere, Cub Cadet, Husqvarna and Toro all build both. Check your old battery’s label, or bring it in and we’ll match it exactly, then recycle it free.

Mower battery questions
How long should a mower battery last in Florida?
Three to four years is typical here. Heat is harder on batteries than cold, and a mower that sits between weekends self-discharges. A $30 maintainer over the off-season usually buys you an extra season or two.
Does more CCA hurt anything?
No. The case is the same U1 size, so a 360 CCA drops straight into a mower that came with 270 — it just cranks harder on a hot start. Only the terminal side has to match.
My mower cranks slow but the battery is new.
Usually the charging system or a corroded ground, not the battery. Bring the mower’s battery in — we’ll load-test it free and tell you whether it’s actually the problem before you buy anything.
Do you take the old one?
Yes — recycling is free, and we pay cash for cores. Don’t put a lead-acid battery in household trash.
